KFOR spokesman Uwe Nowitzki stated on Thursday that KFOR will remove roadblocks in northern Kosovo if Serbs fail to do so.

KFOR spokesman Uwe Nowitzki stated on Thursday that KFOR will remove roadblocks in northern Kosovo if Serbs fail to do so.

The only solution lies in providing guarantees regarding freedom of movement for everyone, including KFOR, Nowitzki said and added that if does not happen, it is only natural to expect KFOR to behave as it did in the past and if need be, the mission will remove roadblocks on its own if Serbs fail to do so.

He stated that agreements can be reached only on the political level and that results can be achieved only through talks.
Nowitzki underscored that KFOR wishes to avoid any conflicts such as the ones seen in Jagnjenica on Monday, and he said that a small group of radical protesters were to blame for the incident.

Nowitzki expressed hope that KFOR representatives and Zubin Potok Mayor Slavisa Ristic would achieve some results at the meeting in Zubin Potok, northern Kosovo, on Friday.

Late on Thursday, Nowitzki conferred with Serbs on the barricades in the village of Jagnjenica near Zubin Potok.

He called on the local population to remove the roadblocks they set up on Tuesday and close the detour path which citizens from Ibarski Kolasin are using to get to Zvecan and Kosovska Mitrovica.
