Del Toro and Huppert to appear at Kustendorf

The Oscar-winning actor Benicio Del Toro, French actress Isabelle Huppert and directors Dardenne brothers from Belgium and Asghar Farhadi from Iran will appear as guests at the fifth International Kustendorf Film and Music Festival, which will be staged in Mokra Gora from January 17 and 23, festival's founder Emir Kusturica announced at a news conference on Tuesday.
The Oscar-winning actor Benicio Del Toro, French actress Isabelle Huppert and directors Dardenne brothers from Belgium and Asghar Farhadi from Iran will appear as guests at the fifth International Kustendorf Film and Music Festival, which will be staged in Mokra Gora from January 17 and 23, festival's founder Emir Kusturica announced at a news conference on Tuesday.
Officials previously announced that most important and almost iconic films by two prominent directors, Kim Ki-duk from South Korea and Nuri Bilge Ceylan from Turkey, would be displayed within the Retrospective of Greatness programme, while the directors will host a workshop for students after the projection of the films.
Film 'Arirang' from 2010 directed by Kim Ki-duk, one of the greatest living directors, and the film 'Once upon a Time in Anatolia' directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan, one of the indispensable directors of the day, will be displayed within the Contemporary Authors' Tendencies programme, Kusturica specified.
He said that out of 300 films which applied for the competition, 20 films directed by young authors from Belgium, Great Britain, Estonia, Italy, Canada, Kirgiztan, Macedonia, Mexico, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Russia, the U.S., Serbia, France and Spain will be running for the Golden, Silver and Bronze Egg.
The films will be rated by an international jury comprising Leila Hatami, Iranian actress and winner of the Silver Bear for her role in the film 'A Separation' directed by Asghar Farhadi, French producer Pierre Edelman and Serbian actor and producer Zoran Cvijanovic.
The Vilko Filac award for the best camera will be delivered by world-famous director of photography Martin Shek and renowned Serbian sound editor Svetolik Mica Zajc.
In the music programme of the Kustendorf festival, the audience will have a chance to hear performances by Palagay from Russia, the Rosenberg Trio from the Netherlands, Stribor and Trovaci from Serbia, Adam Stinga from Moldova, Sonido Gallo Negro from Mexico and Boban and Marko Markovic Orchestra.
Kusturica underscored that for the fifth year in a row, the festival organisers are persevering in their desire to spread the idea of film as a culture and to promote motion pictures that meet the criteria of both the audience and critics.
According to announcements, the festival will be covered by 20 foreign and 15 local reporters, and Serbian Minister of Culture, Media and Information Society Predrag Markovic stated that the Ministry would back the fifth Kustendorf festival as a clearly designed and high-quality event.
