Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic stated in Munich on Saturday that Serbia will endeavor to create a political atmosphere which would lead to a positive decision on its status of an EU candidate.

Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic stated in Munich on Saturday that Serbia will endeavor to create a political atmosphere which would lead to a positive decision on its status of an EU candidate.

Jeremic, who is attending the two-day International Security Conference in Munich, said that the decision on the status has not been made yet, and that there are few weeks left until the ministerial meeting.

We will do everything in the next period to create a political atmosphere in which progress in talks on Kosovo and all other regional issues would lead to a positive decision for Serbia, he said.

Speaking about the Munich meeting, Jeremic said that this is the biggest annual conference dedicated to international security.

The Balkans is not one of the main topics this year. I believe it is good news that we are not a security threat to the world. This was not the case in previous years, he stressed.

Jeremic also said that he met with Foreign Ministers of Russia Sergey Lavrov, Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshchenko, Lithuania Edgars Rinkevics, and added that he is to confer with his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski, and German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle.

One of the key topics is, of course, our European process. I believe that the overall atmosphere regarding Serbia and the enlargement issue is positive, he said.

The minister stressed that Serbia's presidency over the OSCE was also discussed.

Jeremic also met with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on Saturday, whereas on Friday he met with Romanian Foreign Minister Cristian Diaconescu as well.
