A new airport in Cenej near Novi Sad, the preliminary plans for which have been drawn by the Faculty of Technical Sciences, will be built within the next three years on an area spanning more than seven hectares, Vojvodina Prime Minister Bojan Pajtic announced Friday (4 May 2012).

As it was announced, the airport will handle both domestic and international flights, and it is expected to serve over 200,000 passengers annually.

Pajtic pointed out that the new airport would be modeled after the one in Tivat, adding that the idea was to adapt the Cenej airport to fit our needs and capacities.

- The aim is to build a nice and functional airport, which will be both an exceptionally important infrastructure facility and a decoration of Novi Sad, Vojvodina and Serbia - said Pajtic.

From the runway to farms

- This project will not only make it easier and cheaper for the citizens of Vojvodina to travel, but it can also potentially contribute to the development of the Vojvodina tourism and full exploitation of its potential - said Bojan Pajtic.
