Three teenagers from a New Zealand island of Tokelau rescued after 50 days drifting across the South Pacific in a dinghy, a New Zealand radio reported.
Young men disappeared on October 5, and after a few days of futile efforts to find them, they were declared dead and a memorial services was held for them.
They were rescued by the fishing boat in the open sea east from Fiji. The captain of the boat stated for the New Zealand radio that all three of them are in a good physical shape and in a surprisingly good mood, having in mind they spent two months drifting across the ocean.
“They had serious sun burns, but they basically needed just minor medical assistance,” the captain said. The young men said the only food they had during that time was a seagull they managed to catch.
