Belgrade's Higher Court War Crimes Department has launched on December 20 a proceeding against nine members of Sakali paramilitary group charging them with the crime in Cuska, whereas an Interpol warrant has been issued for another 16 members who are at large.
The nine Sakali members are charged with murdering 44 civilians, destruction and burning of over 40 houses, and expulsion and robbery of about 400 Albanian civilians, including women, children and elderly people.
The War Crimes Prosecutor's Office initiated a financial investigation against the Cuska crime suspects on suspicion that the motive behind the crime was robbery.
