Mercedes-Benz Turk, Turkish unit of Mercedes-Benz, has decided to hire 180 workers and boost production after a recovery in domestic market and boom in demand, the company said on Friday.
Mercedenz-Benz Turk manufactures buses and coaches at its Aksaray plant in central Turkey.
The company will hire 180 new workers this month and re-start double shift at its Turkey plant in June as part of preparations for production of Mercedes-Benz Actros, a heavy duty truck.
Mercedes-Benz had cut its production by 80 percent in 2009, said Wolf-Dieter Kurz, head of the company.
"We manufactured 3,720 vehicles in 2009. We are happy to enter a growth period in 2010," he said.
Mercedes-Benz Turk started production at Aksaray plant in 1986. The plant is considered one of the most modern of its type.
