Shops will remain closed on Sunday, 12 December, according to a provisional ruling by the President of the fourth department of the Council of State Sotiris Rizos on Friday.

Rizos accepted a petition by the Federation of Attica prefecture Merchants, the Athens Shop Employees' Association and the Hellenic Federation of Private Employees demanding the suspension of a decision by the Athens Prefectural Council allowing shops open, by exception, on Sunday to facilitate consumers ahead of Christmas.
