The latest developments in Egypt are turning Swiss tourists to other Mediterranean countries, according to a report in Thursday's edition of the "Basler Zeitung" newspaper.

The latest developments in Egypt are turning Swiss tourists to other Mediterranean countries, according to a report in Thursday's edition of the "Basler Zeitung" newspaper.

Expected to benefit most are Spain and the Canary Islands in particular. Greece and Turkey as well are emerging as alternative destinations instead of Egypt.

The Greek Tourism ministry is expecting an increase in tourist movement to Greece by 15 percent this year and the director of the Greek Tourist Organisation (EOT) in Geneva G. Kontoyiannopoulos is anticipating a 7 percent increase in Swiss tourists to Greece
