Albania's population census, scheduled for April, has been postponed until November, Ministry of Innovation and Information Technology said, citing May 8 local elections as reason for the decision, ATA news agency reports.

According to Ministry official sources, registration of the population during the local government elections could lead to inaccurate data.

The population census project, worth EUR 15 million, has been rejected by representatives of religious communities, historians and civil society organizations, contesting a questionnaire with a set of over 100 questions designed to be filled in as part of the population census process.
