The situation in the Nuclear Power Plant Krsko (NEK) has normalized and the plant has been reconnected to the transmission line, Director of the Slovenian Nuclear Safety Administration Andrej Stritar said Wednesday.

The unexpected shutdown lasted about an hour, but everything has stabilized and the power plant has been reconnected to the power line, said Stritar, quoted by the Zagreb-based daily Jutarnji List which referred to the report by the Slovenian daily Zurnal24.

Production at the Krsko nuclear power plant was unexpectedly interrupted at 10.30 a.m. due to a sudden shutdown of the 400 kV transmission line Tumbri-Krsko, NEK said in a statement, pointing out that there was no adverse impact on the environment.

The Croatian State Institute for Nuclear Safety and Radiological Protection stated that there had not been any potential hazards of radioactive discharges to the environment.

Production at Krsko was last suspended during a regular testing eight years ago, due to an improper functioning of an isolation valve.
