UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon urged for a fresh name negotiation round after the completion of elections in Macedonia, one that will advance the process and in a way lead to a solution, President Gjorge Ivanov told reporters Tuesday briefing them on his meeting with the UN chief.
"The name issue was one of the topics of our talks. He said he was familiar with all developments related to the (negotiation) process. He also said that he had meetings with the Greek party, urging for a meeting to be convened after the poll in Macedonia, one that should move forward the entire process and somehow bring a solution," Ivanov said.
Ki-moon believes that a solution to the name row may not be sought at technical level, Ivanov said. The UN Secretary General considers that it is a political decision that requires for the leaders of both countries to intensify the cooperation thus enabling for new ideas to enter the process, Ivanov said.
