Romania's President Traian Basescu and UK Prime Minister David Cameron on Monday in London signed a Joint Statement on the expansion of the strategic partnership between Romania and the UK.

Romania's President Traian Basescu and UK Prime Minister David Cameron on Monday in London signed a Joint Statement on the expansion of the strategic partnership between Romania and the UK.

The two countries agreed upon a common working agenda for promoting the economic growth in the European Union (EU), the EU expansion to the Eastern Balkans, Turkey and the Republic of Moldova, the endorsement of democratic reforms in the EU vicinity.

'Romania and the UK share a common outlook on Europe, on a wider European Union, more competitive on the worldwide economic market, more open towards trade and innovation, that should come to the support of new business and economic growth, based on free movement of goods and services, persons and capital,' the Joint Statement signed by the two officials reads.

Punctually, the two countries, through the document signed on Monday, commit to encourage the completion of the single market for services and the digital economy, to promote the free fair trade between the EU and the main trade partners, with a focus on closing the Agreement of Doha this year and on cooperating for the completion of other free trade agreements.

'The UK hails the progress registered by Romania in the judicial system reform and corruption combat, within the Mechanism for Cooperation and Verification. We have agreed to strengthen the cooperation in this field,' the Statement signed in London also reads
