IMF’s Mission in Tirana

The IMF’s mission is expected to organize meetings with the Minister of Finance, the Governor of the Bank of Albania and Prime Minister Sali Berisha. The mission will last nearly two weeks and it will be closed with a joint press conference.

The next mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) reached Tirana.

The macro-economic situation, the fiscal policies and the development of the budgetary parameters will be the center of discussions for the head of the mission, Gerwin Bell and his staff with the Albanian authorities.

The first meeting of the mission was carried on Monday with the Chairman of the Economy Parliamentary Commission, Edmond Spaho, and with Deputy Selami Xhepa.

The meeting was held behind closed doors, but it is thought that the public debt an the budgetary deficit were at the center of discussions.
