A vehicle belonging to the Vijesti daily from Montenegro was set on fire in Podgorica on Saturday, according to the Vijesti internet portal.

The fire was started by an unknown person and the damage to the vehicle was minimal. Former Vijesti employee Tonko Nisavic, in front of whose house the incident happened, said a police officer who happened to be passing by at the time of the fire saw the culprit.

"At 3:55 a.m. a police officer passed by and saw someone trying to set the car on fire. He ran after the person, but did not catch him. However, he interrupted him, so he was not able to complete his work," Nisavic stated.

The police crime scene investigation unit showed up soon after and left about half an hour later, he added. The police are still trying to identify the perpetrator, according to Vijesti's unofficial source within the force. Two other Vijesti vehicles were set ablaze July 14.
