After the unilateral proclamation of Kosovo's independency in February 2008, Tirana and Pristina developed a successful cooperation practically in all fields. It was earlier confirmed that an agreement on publishing joint textbooks was reached, and, according to the media, joint services already exist at border crossings.

Tirana and Pristina have signed an agreement on unifying consular services and services abroad, and announced an even closer cooperation in other fields. Albanians should feel the same both in Tirana and Pristina, Albanian Prime Minister Salji Berisa said after the ratification of the agreement.

He pointed out that the same practice should be implemented in other fields - customs service, culture and education - with the aim to reduce bureaucracy and create even closer cooperation between the two states, the web portal Balkan Insight reported.

It is necessary to consolidate the trend of cooperation (between Tirana and Pristina) with a joint legal framework and legal practice, which will diminish bureaucratic problems for the citizens of Albania and Kosovo, he said.

Tirana has fully supported the new "state" in Pristina since the very first day, and has been lobbying for the recognition of Kosovo in the world, together with Kosovo Albanians .
