Bulgaria’s Central Electoral Commission has announced the final results of Sunday’s presidential elections about 24 hours after the deadline provided in the law, commission spokeswoman Ralitsa Negentsova told FOCUS News Agency.

According to the law the commission had to announce the final results 48 hours after the end of the October 23 voting.

The presidential ticket of the ruling party Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria, Rosen Plevneliev and Margarita Popova, collected 1,349,380 votes and the presidential and vice-presidential candidates of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, Ivaylo Kalfin and Stefan Danailov, scooped up 974,300 votes.

According to Negentsova the official final results are late, because Bulgaria held two elections on Sunday – local and presidential.
