The trial against former chief-of-staff of the Republika Srpska Army General Ratko Mladic will start on May 14, the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia (ICTY) released.

Authorities announced earlier that the trial should start on March 27.

Mladic was charged with genocide and multiple crimes against Muslims, Croats and other non-Serb civilians in Bosnia-Herzegovina in the period from May 1992 to the end of 1995.

The indictments notes that units under Mladic's command committed genocide in Srebrenica in July 1995, when they murdered over 7.000 Muslims.

The indictment charges Mladic with bombing of Sarajevo and sniper fire in the city, where thousands of civilians were assassinated and wounded.

According to the indictment, Mladic committed the crimes as member of the joint criminal enterprise aimed at eliminating or permanent displacement of Muslims, Croats and other non-Serbs from many parts of Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The next status conference in Mladic's case will be held on March 29.
