Croatia: Employment rate increases slightly in March

There were 1,363,405 employed persons in Croatia in March this year, which is 250 more workers than in February, according to data released by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics on Monday.

The number of workers in corporate bodies dropped to 1,128,769, or 507 fewer than in February.

The number of employees in small businesses and free-lance professions was 205,072, an increase of 0.5 percent or 953 workers more than in February.

There were 29,564 employed farmers, 196 fewer than in the previous month (down 0.7%).

The number of unemployed persons in March dropped 0.9 percent from February. At the end of March, 339,882 people were registered with the Employment Service.

The rate of registered unemployment, which is the ratio of unemployed persons registered with the Employment Service and the overall active population, dropped from 20.1 percent in February to 20 percent in March.
