Session of European Council of religious leaders ends

Annual meeting of the Council of European Religious Leaders was completed successfully and all participants showed great respect and gratitude for hospitality they received in Sarajevo.
Three-day session of the European Council of Religious Leaders ended today with adoption of the Statement and Declaration in Sarajevo.
Host of this tenth meeting was the Islamic Community in BiH and reisu-l-ulema Mustafa Ceric, as member and one of the founders of the Council. ''Joint life in diversity: citizens of Europe: testimony of religion'' was the topic discussed.
In the Statement adopted today importance of Sarajevo is emphasized and Islamic Community and reisu-l-ulema is thanked for their hospitality as well as BiH Presidency Chair Bakir Izetbegovic for his presence at the opening and Minister of Foreign Affairs Zlatko Lagumdzija for reception for participants of the meeting.
Declaration on the occasion of 10th anniversary of the Council, named Sarajevo Declaration, emphasizes importance of nurturing free and democratic society where there is no discrimination and where religious beliefs and right to public expression of religion and religious symbols will be respected which shows that those who have a problem with those symbols do not respect human rights.

They were especially impressed with the mosques, churches and synagogues where they could see that Sarajevo is multi-cultural and multi-religious life in practice.
Ceric said that Islamic Community can be proud it was honored to host this meeting and thanked members of Inter-Religious Council of BiH for taking part, MINA reports.
