Bulgaria, Qatar and Turkey are ready to set up a joint project company for the construction of an express highway connecting Svilengrad with Rousse.

Bulgaria, Qatar and Turkey are ready to set up a joint project company for the construction of an express highway connecting Svilengrad with Rousse.

This has become clear as the prime ministers of the three countries, Boyko Borissov, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber al-Thani and Recep Tayyip Erdogan emerged from talks at the Euxionograd Residence near Varna.

On Thursday the construction ministers of the three countries will have a meeting in Sofia to discuss the details. Bulgarian PM Boyko Borissov predicted that in the near future Europe’s transport map would live through a facelift in case this and other similar infrastructure projects were executed.

With regard to the intercontinental connections for natural gas transiting between Bulgaria and Turkey, Borissov said that they were far from reality following repeated statements from Turkey that it could transfer gas to Bulgaria only in critical situations.

What should be done now is to work on the South Stream project that involves Bulgaria and Turkey, as well as Russia as a strategic partner, Borissov added.

The three prime ministers agreed that fast and categorical solutions of Syria’s problems were needed.
