Unidentified persons shot two brothers with a Kalashnikov assault rifle outside an apartment building in the Athens region of Kesariani in the early hour of Saturday morning, resulting in one being killed and the other being seriously wounded when they tried to prevent them from stealing their car.

The two brothers, aged 30 and 32, were asleep in their apartment when they heard the alarm of their car go off.

They jumped out onto the balcony and saw two or three people trying to steal their vehicle.

One of the owners took a knife with him and went down with his brother to stop the perpetrators who opened fire on them, killing one and seriously wounding the other.

The perpetrators then fled the scene.
