Minister of Culture Nebojsa Bradic will lead a Serbian delegation at the 34th meeting of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee taking place in Brasilia until 3 August.
Bradic said that this meeting, which began yesterday in the capital of Brazil, is significant for Serbia for two reasons.
One is the question of our candidature for a permanent member of the Committee, and the second is the theme of the session "World Heritage Sites in Danger", said Bradic stressing that this includes cultural heritage in Kosovo-Metohija, which in the light of current events will be a particular challenge for the Serbian delegation.
The World Heritage Committee is the most prestigious body that addresses the protection of cultural and natural heritage of outstanding universal value.
It is made up of 21 members: Australia, Bahrain, Barbados, Brazil, Cambodia, China, Egypt, Estonia, Ethiopia, France, Iraq, Jordan, Mali, Mexico, Nigeria, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand and United Arab Emirates (UAE).
