Administrator of the eparchy of Raska and Prizren Amfilohije has stated the time is not ripe to give over the securing of the Serb monasteries in Kosmet to the local law enforcement units.

Administrator of the eparchy of Raska and Prizren Amfilohije has stated the time is not ripe to give over the securing of the Serb monasteries in Kosmet to the local law enforcement units.

He told TANJUG that since the March violence in 2004, there as not enough time for the monks and the Serbian Orthodox Church to gain confidence in the Kosmet police. Namely, by the end of the month KFOR should pass the security of monasteries Gracanica, Gorioc and Budicavce to the care of the Kosmet police.

Amfilohije has pointed out that the monkhood and clergy in the Province, who have endured through worst of times, do not contemplate leaving Kosmet.

He has expressed hope that the UN will make a final decision on the status of Kosmet, in line with human and divine justice, i.e. to leave the Province as part of Serbia, as it has been for centuries.
