Based on a BBC report, Koha Ditore reports that no one from the Gracanica Monastery wanted to give an announcement regarding the transfer of security responsibility from KFOR to the Kosovo Police.

This daily reports that the Municipal Mayor of Gracanica Boban Stojanovic expressed his understanding for the rejection of Monastery leaders to be protected by Kosovo Police.

“We cannot qualify such a decision as technical, when everything else is political. Here everything is political, technical issues do not even exist. I think that when Monasteries are concerned, there is a dose of skepticism and danger for their security,” said Stojanovic.

This daily quotes several Gracanica citizens who consider that security by the Kosovo Police, which only patrols twice a day, will be sufficient.
