Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning Oliver Dulic said today that the Mediterranean Climate Change Initiative is expected to adopt an agreement on the common stance of Mediterranean countries in future negotiations to reduce the effects of climate change.

Dulic told Tanjug news agency that in a series of bilateral meetings with ministers of the environment of other countries it was agreed to cooperate more in other matters related to environmental protection.

The Mediterranean area is one of the most vulnerable and climate change could drastically affect its economy, agriculture and other sectors, stressed Dulic.

He underlined that countries of the Mediterranean through the exchange of experience, technology and much better cooperation at all levels should fight against these consequences and thus contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

He pointed out that it is necessary to insist on greater activity in global groups where Mediterranean countries are present.

Serbia was invited to join Greece in the establishment of initiatives related to climate change in the Mediterranean, in order to provide a platform for the upcoming global conference on climate change in Mexico.
