Regional centres for professional development of education workers have been established through the Professional Development Project - PDP, on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Serbian Ministry of Education.

Minister of Education Zarko Obradovic and Swiss Ambassador to Serbia Erwin Hofer opened a Regional centre for the professional development of education workers in Smederevo today.

Of the €99,000 invested in the Regional centre, two-thirds was secured by Switzerland, while the rest was donated by the town of Smederevo. The renovation of the premises, spanning 600 square metres, took around ten months.

In addition to Smederevo, such centres already exist or are on the verge of opening in Nis, Cacak, Uzice, Krusevac, Leskovac, Sabac, Kikinda and Kanjiza.
