Nenad Djuric, a commander of the police station in Zvecan, northern Kosovo, was suspended after he opposed implementation of the decree banning vehicles with new license plates with initials of Kosovo towns, which the Serbian Interior Ministry has been issuing since the beginning of the year.

As the Mitrovica Radio Kontakt Plus reported, Djuric was suspended by Regional Director of the Kosovo Police Service Shabanaj Sami.

This is the first case that one of the Serb KPS officers has opposed the decree, which was issued a few days ago by the outgoing Interior Minister of Kosovo, Bajram Rexhepi.

The disputed decree reads that all new plates issued by the Serbian Interior Ministry and with markings of the Kosovo towns, should be removed and the case submitted to the competent authorities.
