It is still uncertain whether the airplane, which is supposed to evacuate 60 more Serbian citizens from Libya, will take off for Tripoli at 6 p.m. on Thursday, stated Head of the JAT Airways Director General's cabinet Stanimir Jovanovic.

Jovanovic told Tanjug, that according to the regular timetable, the airplane should take off from Belgrade at 6 p.m. (local time), and bring back Serbian citizens from Libya at around 1 a.m., but explained that since the boarding will take place late in the evening, it may be difficult to organize the departure.

“At this moment, we cannot say when exactly the next flight for Tripoli will be organized, and whether it will be a regular or emergency one,” Jovanovic said.

He added that the matter is being discussed and the final decision has not been reached yet.

On Wednesday, the Serbian government arranged three emergency flights which evacuated a total of 400 Serbian citizens from Libya.

Ship that will evacuate Serbian citizens from Libya arrives in Bari

The ship that will evacuate Russian, Serbian and Turkish citizens from Libya arrived in the Italian port of Bari on Thursday and will later continue towards the Libyan city of Sirte, according to Russian news agencies.

The ship sailed out of Bar, Montenegro, on Wednesday. It will evacuate 1,263 people, of whom 563 are Russian and 700 are Turkish and Serbian citizens who worked for a Russian railway company there, Itar-Tass reported.

The RIA Novosti news agency says that the ship will evacuate people from Sirte and Ras Lanuf.

Dacic: No information that any Serbian citizen was injured or killed in Libya

Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic stated Thursday that there are no information that any Serbian citizen was injured or killed in Libya.

Evacuation of Serbian citizens from Libya continues

Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic has said that the evacuation of Serbian citizens from Libya would continue during Thursday, adding that they would be transported by plane from Tripoli and by ship from Benghazi and Ras Lanuf.

A Jat Airways plane should take off for Tripoli in the afternoon and depart for Belgrade around midnight, meaning that the remaining citizens who are at the airport will probably be evacuated, Dacic told reporters in Belgrade.

The situation is such that there is no need for another flight today, but should the need arise, an extra plane will be sent, he noted.

The ships that are on their way to Benghazi and Tripoli will also arrive, as well as the Russian ship headed from Montenegro to Ras Lanuf, which will evacuate about 300 citizens who have been working for Russian companies there, Dacic remarked.

Serbia will monitor the situation and do everything to evacuate its people, the minister stressed.

According to Dacic, Serbia is among the few countries that have been allowed to fly to Libya and organize an evacuation.

Those planes transported also a number of people from neighbouring countries, Dacic stated.
