Dinar soars against euro, exchange rate at RSD 96.7

The dinar will strengthen against the euro by 36 paras or 0.36 percent on Monday, thus reaching a new 2011 record high against the euro and setting the middle exchange rate at RSD 96.7007, the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) released.

On Thursday, the Serbian central bank announced that in the next 20 days it intends to purchase up to EUR 40 million at the interbank foreign exchange market.

In line with this statement, the NBS started buying euros, but, as Tanjug has learned, the data on daily purchases will not be published.

In 2011, the euro reached its lowest level on January 6, with the middle exchange rate at RSD 106.4947.

The dinar hit its lowest level against the euro in recent years on November 4, 2010, when the middle exchange rate was RSD 107.5216.
