Serbia recorded a USD 400.1 million surplus in trade with CEFTA countries in the first four months of 2011, mostly as a result of exporting agricultural products, showed the data from the state statistical office.
Between January and April, Serbia exported mostly grains, grain products, beverages, iron and steel, while the majority of its imports were electricity, iron and steel, non-ferrous metals and stone coal, as well as fruits and vegetables. Serbia's export totaled USD 923.3 million and export USD 523.2 million, which means that the export import ratio was 176.5 percent.
In 2010, Serbia had a USD 1.36 billion surplus in trade with CEFTA countries, also primarily a result of agricultural exports.
The CEFTA region is one of the few markets with which Serbia has continually recorded a trade surplus, and it is the second biggest export market for Serbia, after the EU.
CEFTA is a free trade agreement between Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, FYRMacedonia, Albania, Moldova and UNMIK, on behalf of Kosovo.
