A status conference in the retrial of Alliance for the Future of Kosovo President Ramus Haradinaj at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) will be held on June 9, the Tribunal announced Friday.

A status conference in the retrial of Alliance for the Future of Kosovo President Ramus Haradinaj at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) will be held on June 9, the Tribunal announced Friday.

The previous status conference in the case of Haradinaj was held on February 23.

According to ICTY rules, 120 days should elapse until the following status conference so that all sides can prepare for the process, and the court assess all aspects, including mental and physical condition of the accused.

ICTY had announced earlier that the retrial of Haradinaj for war crimes in Kosovo would start in June.

The trial of Haradinaj and two of his associates Ljah Brahimaj and Idriz Balja is the first process in the history of ICTY which will be repeated.

The trial will be repeated in keeping with a decision of the Court of Appeals for intimidating witnesses.

In March 2005, ICTY indicted Haradinaj, Balaj and Brahimaj on 37 counts, charging them with crimes against humanity and violations of the laws and customs of war and participation in a joint criminal enterprise against Serbs, Roma and ethnic Albanians in 1998.
