Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic stated in The Hague Friday that in spite of all the measures that it implements, Serbia is faced with realistic forms of internal terrorism threats, through constant attempts to transfer some of the activities of Albanian extremist and terrorist groups from Kosovo-Metohija to southern Serbia.

The Serbian police have taken a series of preventive anti-terrorism measures, he said addressing the European Police Chiefs Convention.

Dacic said that, regardless of the endeavors of the international community, the citizens of Kosovo-Metohija enjoy no personal and property security or equality, and there is no security environment for the remaining Serb and other non-Albanian population.

He informed the participants of the meeting about a new terrorist activity in the Raska region, by the Wahhabi, whose 15 members were arrested and sentenced to prison for planning terrorist activities and possession of large quantities of weapons and explosives.

Therefore, what is needed is a common fight against terrorism on European soil, he repeated and emphasized that Serbia has practically demonstrated its partnership with other countries.

Of great importance for the fight against terrorism is the promotion of international police cooperation, Dacic noted and recalled that Serbia has signed bilateral agreements on police cooperation in fighting organized crime with a number of countries.

He recalled the concrete operations of the Serbian police, in which a Moroccan citizen suspected of terrorist attacks in Madrid, and a member of the Hezbollah organization, were arrested.

Dacic said that the measures were taken in compliance with the obligations that Serbia, as a UN member, has taken in implementing international documents regarding the issue of global terrorism.

He stated that the measures are aimed at preventing possible terrorist acts in Serbia, as well as preventing terrorists from using Serbia for the preparation of such acts.

Dacic stressed that the border control has been tightened, so as to prevent and foil any attempt to use Serbia's territory as a transit area for the entrance of potential terrorists into the EU countries.
