The Belgrade Boat Carnival will start Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Sava river aquatorium from the Branko's Bridge to Usce and from he Sava pier to the New Belgrade bank.

The event is organized by the Tourism Organization of Belgrade and sponsored by the City Assembly. The carnival is meant to promote the Sava and Danube rivers, and their confluence together with the Great War Island, some of the places Belgrade is known for.

In addition to great fun for the citizens of Belgrade and guests from abroad, the event is aimed at promoting Belgrade as a tourist destination, nautical tourism, economic development and investments into river infrastructure. As the main event of the carnival, Serbian band Bajaga i Instruktori will hold a big concert on the river.

The event will also promote Belgrade's bid for European Capital of Culture in 2020. The slogan "It is time for rivers" calls Belgrade residents and tourists to come and take part in large numbers.
