If a parliamentary election were held next weekend, the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) would win 33 percent of the vote and the Democratic Party (DS) would win 29, but DS head Boris Tadic would win the presidential election if pitted against SNS leader Tomislav Nikolic, according to a Strategic Marketing poll quoted by the Press daily.

The only other parties that would get enough votes to have seats in the parliament would be the Serbian Radical Party (8 percent) and Democratic Party of Serbia (6 percent). The Socilaist Party of Serbia, United Regions of Serbia and Liberal Democratic Party would all fail to reach the required minimum to enter the parliament, since they would only get 4 percent of the vote.

On the other hand, if a presidential election were scheduled for next weekend and Tadic and Nikolic were to run in it, Tadic would win the second round with 53 percent against Nikolic's 47.

Voter turnout would be at 67 percent. According to the poll, 49 percent of the people are in favour of holding an early parliamentary election, while 34 percent are decidedly against it.

If this weekend Serbia held a referendum on joining the EU, 56 percent would vote yes, 29 would vote no and 11 would not vote at all.

When it comes to joining NATO, 64 percent would vote no, while 15 percent would vote yes.
