Head of Belgrade's negotiating team in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue Borislav Stefanovic denied on Saturday that electricity debts of people from northern Kosovo would be discussed in the next round of talks in Brussels, on July 20 and 21.

Head of Belgrade's negotiating team in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue Borislav Stefanovic denied on Saturday that electricity debts of people from northern Kosovo would be discussed in the next round of talks in Brussels, on July 20 and 21.

It is not true that electricity debts would be discussed in the forthcoming round of Belgrade-Pristina talks in Brussels, Stefanovic told Tanjug.

In an interview for the Pristina-based daily Koha Ditore, head of Pristina's negotiating team Edita Tahiri said that she will call on the Serbian government during the next round of talks to pay the bills for electricity which the Kosovo Electricity Corporation delivered to citizens of northern Kosovo, mostly populated by Serbs.

She specified that the debt covers bills issued in the course of some 12 years.

Stefanovic said that electricity debts are not a topic envisaged in the dialogue agenda, and added it is obvious that Tahiri is using every available chance to contribute to a better positioning of the Pristina delegation and herself by making such statements.

By making such statements due to various pressures, Tahiri wishes to assure the Kosovo public that the talks with Belgrade need to continue and that the negotiations serve the interests of Kosovo citizens, Stefanovic said.

During the talks so far, Belgrade and Pristina managed to reach an agreement on freedom of movement, book registries and nostrification of university degrees.
