The Kosovo government has the right to ensure the functioning of a proper administration, including that which refers to borders and custom control, the International Civilian Office said.
The International Civilian Office (ICO), headed by Pieter Feith, released that the most important thing at the moment is that the situation in Kosovo be resolved in a peaceful manner, through talks and dialogue.
The Kosovo government has the right to ensure the functioning of a proper administration, including that which refers to borders and custom control, the International Civilian Office said.
ICO at the same time urges the government that in its efforts to establish administrative control on the whole of its territory, it provides necessary assurances and support to the people in the north.
The present situation underlines the importance of a full engagement of both Belgrade and Pristina in the dialogue assisted by the EU, all with the aim to improve the quality of the life of the people, ICO stated.

How 'legitimate' is the Kosovo government? It's time for the western powers to reconsider the situation they created.

It's is very unfortunate that a Serb terrorist killed a police officer who had nothing to do with the Serbs in Mitrovica. The officer was simply securing the border. It's sad how fast the Serb community forgets how the Albanians react to murder. The Albanians wont forget this.

the action by serb terrorist should be condemned by everyone, Kosovo police has the right to secure its own borders like every other country in the world, the serb terrorists backed bu belgrades govermemt officials shot in the head a kosovo police member who left three kids behind he died from that shot and then the terrorists burnt down the borderm hopefully the UN security council will condemn the terrorist acts of serbs from northern part of the border.

There is still a clear majority of the world - both in number of countries and in number of citizens - that does not recognize Kosovo. So Feith would do better to operate a bit less as the PR office of the Kosovo government. Instead he should finally read the Ahtisaari Agreement and and oversee its implementation. That is what he is paid for and until now he has done a very lousy job in that area.
Kosovo is still under control of the UN as specified in SC resolution 1244. And for god reason as there ar still over 200,000 refugees from Kosovo who are not able to return safely - as was verified by Amnesty International a few months ago. It is for this reason that Kosovo special forces are not considered welcome and seen as a threat to ethnic peace in Kosovo's north tip. Mr. Feith knows that.
