Serbia's export of agricultural products totalled around USD 1.1 billion in the first half of 2011, which is 33.7 per cent more than in the same period last year, expert Vojislav Stankovic of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) told Tanjug.

He said that the country's imports in the said period totalled USD 561.1 million, or 18.7 per cent more than in the first half of 2010, which indicates that surplus made in the exchange of agricultural products amounted to USD 570.4 million.
The ratio of export-import coverage amounted to 201 per cent. Serbia mostly exports corn, sugar extracted from sugar beet, raspberries, sunflower oil and wheat, Stankovic explained and added that the country mostly imports bananas, raw coffee and oranges.
He noted that export of agricultural products accounts for 19.6 per cent of the country's total exports, while agricultural product import accounts for 5.7 per cent of total imports.
