State Secretary of Tourism at the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development Goran Petkovic said that the construction of the Falkensteiner Hotel in New Belgrade will be completed before the deadline expires and the hotel may open its doors as soon as summer 2012.

State Secretary of Tourism at the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development Goran Petkovic said that the construction of the Falkensteiner Hotel in New Belgrade will be completed before the deadline expires and the hotel may open its doors as soon as summer 2012.

Following a tour of the hotel’s construction site, Petkovic stressed that it has been a long time since such a large hotel with 180 rooms has been built, as hotels with only ten to 70 rooms had been built, which is why Belgrade lacks hotel accommodation.

Works are ahead of schedule and the hotel will be finished before the initial deadline of late 2012, Petkovic added.

He stressed that in a 12-floor tower next to the hotel 6,000 square metres of office space will be built.

The idea is to locate branch offices of new companies there so that they can use the hotel to accommodate their guests upon their arrival to Belgrade for business meetings and conferences, Petkovic explained.

Room category will be “four-plus” stars, which suits modern business people, visitors to large cities and important events and expositions, he observed.

Managing Director of Falkensteiner Michaeler Tourism Group Dietmar Reindl said that €20 million has so far been invested in the construction, while the total investment exceeds €40 million.
