Serbian President Boris Tadic will Monday attend the opening of the new bridge on the Danube River near Beska, a settlement near Indjija located 40 km northwest of Belgrade.
Tadic will visit the Beska bridge, as well as the bridge across the Arkanj canal on northern section of the Corridor 10, the president's press service released.
Serbian Minister for Infrastructure and Energy Milutin Mrkonjic will also attend the opening.
The Beska bridge is 2,205 meters long, with an estimated lifespan of 125 years. The bridge on Corridor 10 is called "the twin", because it was built less then five meters from the old bridge.
It was contructed by Alpina company, using the latest technologies.
The old bridge, built in 1975, will continue to be used. At the time it was built, it was the longest bridge in Europe (2.5 km), but was later shortened to 2,205 meters, which is also the length of the new bridge.
