Minister of Culture, Media and Information Society Predrag Markovic opened yesterday in the Archives of Yugoslavia an exhibition of archival documents "Ivo Andric in diplomacy", in celebration of 50 years from the awarding of the Nobel Prize to Ivo Andric.
The exhibition shows archival documents from Andric’s 21 years of diplomatic service, from 1920 to 1941.
As a diplomat he served in the Vatican, Bucharest, Trieste, Graz, Marseille, Paris, Madrid, Brussels, Geneva and Berlin.
The exhibition includes 152 documents divided into 15 thematic units – decrees on the appointment, diplomatic reports, photos of diplomatic missions of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.
Two anniversaries of Ivo Andric are marked this year – 100 years since the publication of his first literary work in the journal "Bosanska vila" and 50 years from the award of the Nobel Prize for Literature in October, whereas 120 years since his birth will be marked next year.
