The Serbian parliament will Monday discuss the amendments to the proposed 2011 budget review, supported by all parties of the ruling majority apart from the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (SLV) and the League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina (LSV).

The Serbian parliament will Monday discuss the amendments to the proposed 2011 budget review, supported by all parties of the ruling majority apart from the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (SLV) and the League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina (LSV).

Over 100 amendments to the proposed budget review were put forward by Friday.

SVM and LSV are dissatisfied with the realization of funds allocated from the budget for the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, and they condition their support to the review by requesting that amendments specifying this issue be adopted.

The opposition parties criticized the proposed review, and the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), which has recently on several occasions "helped" adopt certain bills, believes the document is a result of incapacity and irresponsibility of the Serbian government, and a way to spend all the money that the country has left.

Serbian Prime Minister and Finance Minister Mirko Cvetkovic said that the proposed budget review is socially responsible as it would ensure regular social benefits and continue stimulating economic growth, adding that it envisages a reduction of public expenditures from 45.5 to 43.8 percent of the GDP.

The proposed budget review envisages a budget deficit of RSD 142.7 billion, revenues of RSD 707.34 billion and expenditures of RSD 850.91 billion.

The MPs should also discuss the proposed amendments to the Public Debt Law, Property Tax Law and Obligatory Traffic Insurance Law.
