Serbs from Ibarski Kolasin, north Kosovo, announced Monday at the barricades set up in the village of Zupce, the municipality of Zubin Potok, that they will stage peaceful protests against establishment of Kosovo institutions in the north of the province.

Serbs from Ibarski Kolasin, north Kosovo, announced Monday at the barricades set up in the village of Zupce, the municipality of Zubin Potok, that they will stage peaceful protests against establishment of Kosovo institutions in the north of the province.

Zubin Potok Municipal President Slavisa Ristic addressed the citizens and urged them to remain peaceful and wise and to gather again tomorrow morning at the same place.

Ristic said that if KFOR tries to remove the barricades on Tuesday, the citizens will stand peacefully, bring chairs and sit there, stressing that by standing behind the barricades Serbs are defending their country, homes and the future of their children.

The gathered citizens dispersed after the address by the municipal president, while a small number of people remained at the barricades where they take daily turns in guarding the blocks.

The barricade in Zupce was put up at the Kosovska Mitrovica-Ribarice magistrate road leading to the Brnjak administrative crossing which is blocked.

KFOR Commander Erhard Drews postponed the departure of the convoy for the supply of KFOR soldiers at the administrative crossings in northern Kosovo for Tuesday, so that the citizens would have more time to remove the roadblocks.

KFOR stated Sunday evening that the representatives of Leposavic, Kosovska Mitrovica, Zubin Potok and Zvecan municipalities requested more time, and that the KFOR commander decided to give them one more day.
