14 persons arrested for immigrant smuggling

An arrest action against members of a crime ring suspected of smuggling several hundreds immigrants from the Afro-Asian area is underway across Serbia, Serbian Police Director Milorad Veljovic told Tanjug.
An arrest action against members of a crime ring suspected of smuggling several hundreds immigrants from the Afro-Asian area is underway across Serbia, Serbian Police Director Milorad Veljovic told Tanjug.
Veljovic said that so far 14 persons have been arrested on suspicion of smuggling citizens of Afghanistan, Libya, Pakistan, Somalia, Tunisia and Sudan and acquiring large sums of money.
The action is carried out by members of the Criminal Police Directorate and the Counter-Organized Crime Service, in coordination with the Organized Crime Prosecutor's Office, and the Hungarian and Austrian police, and police in Subotica, Sabac, Belgrade and Pancevo.
The arrests are realized across Serbia in the areas of Subotica, Belgrade, Pancevo, Loznica, Kanjiza and Mol, Veljovic said.
