Deputy Prime Minister Ivica Dacic said that no one can say with certainty right now whether Serbia will get candidate status for EU membership in a few days, noting that the latest incidents in Kosovo were aimed at foiling the candidacy bid.

Deputy Prime Minister Ivica Dacic said that no one can say with certainty right now whether Serbia will get candidate status for EU membership in a few days, noting that the latest incidents in Kosovo were aimed at foiling the candidacy bid.

"How else can we interpret the fact KFOR started the roadblock removal operation a couple of days before we resumed the dialogue, which will now certainly take place under more difficult circumstances," Dacic said.

He added Serbia's main goal is to maintain peace in Kosovo, prevent all incidents and keep the conflict from escalating.

Dacic reiterated the focus should be on the dialogue, and that, for its duration, everyone should refrain from unilateral moves, whether they come from the authorities in Pristina, the international community, or the Kosovo Serbs.

Nobody in Serbia wants to resolve the situation through wars and conflicts, but at the discussion table, and as soon as possible, Dacic said.
