"I call on the Security Council to make sure no more forceful unilateral acts are allowed to take place, and that it does so in clear, unequivocal, unbiased and status-neutral terms," Jeremic said in his address to the Security Council at a session devoted to Kosovo.

On Nov. 29, Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic urged the U.N. Security Council not to hesitate in taking steps to ensure that unilateral acts of violence in Kosovo were not repeated.

"I call on the Security Council to make sure no more forceful unilateral acts are allowed to take place, and that it does so in clear, unequivocal, unbiased and status-neutral terms," Jeremic said in his address to the Security Council at a session devoted to Kosovo.

The foreign minister also urged the Security Council to take "this crucial step without any further hesitation."

"If we are genuinely concerned about peace and stability in Kosovo, if re-establishing security and improving the quality of life for the people on the ground is our objective, then there can be no justification for refusing to heed such a call right now," Jeremic said.

Failure to act, he said, "would be a disappointing abdication of the responsibility entrusted to this Council by the world's family of nations." Jeremic urged officials of KFOR and EULEX, as well as local community leaders, to start the dialogue and work together to restore peace.
