Minister of Culture, Media and Information Society Predrag Markovic officially opened a permanent exhibition of copies of Serbian frescoes in Santa Croce Basilica in Florence.
Minister of Culture, Media and Information Society Predrag Markovic officially opened a permanent exhibition of copies of Serbian frescoes in Santa Croce Basilica in Florence.
Markovic stressed that this is the first time that non-Italian works of art have been exhibited in the Basilica as a permanent collection.
He noted that Santa Croce is visited by over two million people a year.
Copies of frescoes exhibited in the Basilica include the ones depicting great Christian holidays from the Mileseva monastery, Shepherds at the Nativity (Sopocani monastery), Dormition of Queen Anna Dandolo and mother of Uros I (Sopocani monastery), Queen Simonida and King Stefan Uros II Milutin (portraits from Gracanica monastery).
