“The referendum will leave no mark on history, and it will yield no result. In a way, that was a party referendum which sent a wrong message that North Kosovo Serbs cannot agree with their own state,” Stefanovic said in a statement for Tanjug.

Belgrade's lead negotiator in the dialogue with Pristina Borislav Stefanovic said on Wednesday evening that the outcome of the referendum in northern Kosovo will not yield any result, since the referendum itself is unconstitutional and pointless, adding that it will not jeopardize the continuation of the dialogue, but will further aggravate Serbia's position at the international level.

“The referendum will leave no mark on history, and it will yield no result. In a way, that was a party referendum which sent a wrong message that North Kosovo Serbs cannot agree with their own state,” Stefanovic said in a statement for Tanjug.

That will certainly aggravate Serbia's foreign policy position, Stefanovic said, adding that despite that, the referendum will not jeopardize the resumption of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.

“The dialogue is the only process which can resolve issues, and it will certainly be continued,” Stefanovic concluded.

Head of Belgrade's negotiating team in the dialogue with Pristina Borislav Stefanovic stated on Thursday that the main topic in the forthcoming round of talks next week would cover Pristina's regional presentation, and added that the two sides have not achieved any convergence of stands on the issue.

The two sides' stands have not converged for now but we are maintaining a very active position, Stefanovic said and added that the Belgrade team has offered several propositions, all of which contain Resolution 1244, and the delegation will continue to maintain a constructive and active approach. We are willing to discuss everything because there is no other format for finding a solution to the issue, the official stated and added that the delegations would discuss the implementation of agreements reached so far.

In an interview for Television B92, Stefanovic stated that the issue of Pristina's regional presentation still represents an obstacle and added that Pristina is maintaining a rigid maximum stand on the matter.

He said that the talks on the issue with the international community are an everyday reality, and noted that there is a high likelihood that the dialogue may continue on February 21, but that he cannot definitely confirm this point.

For now, this is a framework date, we are willing to go to Brussels at any moment, including this date, Stefanovic stated.
