Consumer prices rise by 0.1 percent in January

The consumer price index went up by 0.1 percent on average for January this year when compared to December 2011, the Serbian Statistical Office announced on Thursday.

Observed by main groups according to destination of consumption in January 2012 in relation to the previous month, the greatest increase of prices was noted in the groups alcoholic beverages and tobacco (4.4%), recreation and culture (1.0%), transport and Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (by 0.6%) and restaurants and hotels (0.3%).

The greatest decrease of prices was noted in the groups food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.9%) and communication (-0.1%). Prices of other products and services mostly remained unchanged.

Consumer prices in January 2012 increased by 5.6% in relation to January 2011.
