The Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) believes that failure to call elections in Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) would constitute the ultimate act of recognition of Kosovo's independence by the Belgrade government and that the penultimate act was the recent agreement on regional presentation of Pristina.

DSS deputy leader Slobodan Samardzic told a news conference on Tuesday that UNMIK and a Kosovo government official have so far represented Kosovo at regional conferences and that a part of Pristina's general policy lies in 'expelling UNMIK from Kosovo' and thus filing away Resolution 1244.

According to Samardzic, acceptance of Kosovo as an international entity constitutes the penultimate act of the 'policy of capitulation' maintained by the Serbian government.

Samardzic expressed firm belief that the elections for the Kosovo government bodies will not be called, Samardzic said and added that this is also an ultimatum with which the process of dismantling Serbia's institutions in KiM should be initiated.
